How To Force Your Huawei/ZTE Modem To Connect To 3G Signals Only

Having problems getting 3G connection speeds in your area? Well I’ve been having such issues with Airtel Nigeria. The network keeps flipping in between EDGE and 3G incessantly.

If you’ve got stuff to download and would like to force your modem to grab on to the weak 3G signal in your area, simply go to your Huawei Dashboard Menu >>  Tools >> Options >> Network then set Network Type to WCDMA only and Band to Automatic

If you’re using ZTE Dashboard, simply got to Settings >> Preference and choose UMTS/HSPA only.

That’s all folks. Right now I’m rocking Airtel’s 3.5G connection whenever available and loving it Winking smile

NOTE: Your usb internet modem will get noticeably hotter and will drain your battery faster so make sure you’re in a well ventilated environment (preferably air-conditioned) with your computer plugged into a power source.
