Sometimes we just don’t have too much cash to splurge on high end tablets and we just want to keep things simple and budget friendly but unfortunately budget friendly always comes with a sacrifice say in build, screen resolution or battery size. Well that seems to be a thing of the past judging from GSM Arena’s review of the Asus Memo Pad 7 ME176C.

Key specs for this light-weight tablet include a 7 inch 800 x 1280 display, Intel Atom Quad-core processor with Ivy bridge HD GPU, 1GB RAM, the latest Android 4.4.2 , USB OTG,  wireless display connectivity over the Miracast and a huge 3,910mAh battery as well 16GB storage space with microSD card support up to 64GB.

It however doesn’t come with GPRS/EDGE/3G/4G support. Internet connectivity is via Wi-Fi only.

Battery life as tested by GSM Arena looks pretty amazing at 11hrs of web browsing and 15hrs of video playback with screen brightness set at 50%

Asus Memo Pad ME176C Battery Life Review

The only sad thing about this 7inch tab is that most users as well as GSMArena aren’t happy with the sound production. That’s probably where the major sacrifice was made.

Also there’s seems to be some discrepancy with the front and rear camera resolutions. Amazon says it’s 2MP/0.3MP while GSMArena pegs it at 5MP/2MP.

UPDATE: The difference in camera resolution is due to region availability as seen on the official ASUS page for the ASUS Memo Pad 7 ME176C.

If you’re looking a cheap tablet for basic stuff like web browsing, reading eBooks and playing multimedia files while never bothering so much about battery life, then the Asus Memo Pad 7 ME176C might just be your best bet.

It’s currently selling at Amazon.com for $125 with free shipping and be sure to read other users opinions and reviews before getting it though personally all I need is GSMArena’s seal of approval as they’ve always been on point with their reviews.

I would most definitely have gotten this tablet way back in the days when I was on a tight budget ;-)
